Food Frequency Questionnaires (FFQ) are a method for collecting dietary data and use a context-specific food list to estimate the usual diet and understand the relationship between consumption patterns and health outcomes.
The food frequency questionnaire (FFQ), with the merits of practical efficiency and economic feasibility, is one of the primary methods to assess long-term dietary consumption in large-scale epidemiological studies [ 1, 2, 3 ].
The main strength of this study is that we compared FFQ-estimated intakes with objective biochemical measurements. Although these analyses give the lower limit of the FFQ validity, they allow to avoiding correlated errors between FFQ and others self-reported measures.
Food frequency questionnaires are a retrospective method that allow researchers to obtain information on an individual's food intake over a specific period of time. FFQs contain a list of foods or food groups and the participant is asked to report on how often each of the items on the list is eaten, i.e. the frequency of consumption.
